Question?

So what was the last great series you read? These don't have to be the best books ever, but, something you enjoyed and were able to be caught up in, with the added bonus of more to come!
I for one have enjoyed Twilight, and Harry Potter. I also loved all of the Anne of Green Gables books and all other books by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The Inspector Lynley Mystery's by Elizabeth George are another I enjoyed.
What about you?

I was just going to name both of those series. I already posted about the Janet Evanovich series...not high class, but fun. Hmmm, I really loved loved loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Loved it. I liked Ludlum's Bourne Identity but didn't read the others, but I bet that they are a great read.

Oh, yeah, apparently there is a new Lynley novel. Also Mom really enjoyed the Mitford series, which I haven't read, but want to.
I also recommend, although it isn't the greatest, the Sophie Kinsella, Confessions of a Shopaholic series. Well I sort of recommend it. I only made it through the first two, but it was sort of fun.

The most recent series I have read besides Harry Potter with the kids is The Chronicles of Narnia (again, with the kids). We have loved them both.

I recently read the Boleyn series by Philippa Gregory. I fell completely in love with them!

If everyone hadn't beat me to it, I would have said HP, LOTR, the Chronicals of Narnia and Twilight. I'm a big fan of fantasy, so I really like the Shanara books by Terry Brooks. There are about a dozen of them now but the best are the first three, starting with the Sword of Shanara, one of my all time favorite books.

Big Stone Gap and The Mitford Series. Adrianni Trigianni and Jan Karon. Two of my favorite authors of all time.

Oh, I forgot about the Big Stone Gap books. I loved those too.

Great post! I'm realizing that I haven't read many series now. Did like HP, LOTR and (like I posted before) we're in Lemony Snicket right now and liking that too.

You guys have some good suggestions that I'm excited to try.

Okay, this is kind of lame, but I loved the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. They aren't great, but fun and super easy reading. I found myself laughing out loud for a few parts.

My husband and I like to read children's literature together, and have been reading the Artemis Fowl books. They are very clever, and would be a big hit especially with boys ages 7-12ish

Julia Spencer Fleming has a compelling conflicted yet determined heroine in Clare Fergusson - the series starts with In the Deep Midwinter, the latest is called I Shall Not Want. I fall into that world and don't want to come out!
